Sphinx South in Maastricht

8 May 2021

Our property inspectors oversaw the handover for the Recamier building as part of the Sphinx Zuid new build project in Maastricht.

Sphinx South

Sphinx Zuid, a modern residential area in the Sphinx Quarter. Where earthenware was once produced in the robust factories of De Koninklijke Sphinx, a completely new residential environment is now emerging. Robust, original, and modern. But the observant viewer will notice that the past has been incorporated as inspiration. For example, elements subtly integrated into the architecture refer back to the industrial past of the area. This link is also evident in the building names, as they are all named after a Sphinx tableware pattern. For instance, Recamier is the name of an elegant Sphinx tableware series designed by artist Edmond Bellefroid. The apartment complex, with its 69 luxury apartments, lives up to its name, as its elegant architecture and distinctive mottled facade colour make it a beautiful building to behold.

Sustainable enjoyment

The apartments feature a spacious living room, complete with a modern open-plan kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with energy-efficient ATAG appliances, which are elegantly integrated into the cabinetry. The kitchen boasts white cupboards and a black worktop. Each apartment is equipped with a luxurious bathroom, and in some cases, not only features a spacious shower with a door and a double sink, but also a delightful bathtub. The bathroom has black speckled floor tiles and white gloss wall tiles reaching the ceiling. A beautiful foundation, therefore, which residents can easily personalise to their own style in no time. This colour combination is also echoed in the separate toilet.

Location

The apartments are a 10-minute walk from the centre of Maastricht, and the list of hotspots in the Sphinxkwartier itself is endless. Discover, for example, the Frontenpark, filled with monuments with a surprisingly creative purpose. Enjoy lunch at the Brandweerkantine, shop organically at ‘Gedeelde Weelde’ or taste snacks at Bold Rooftopbar with spectacular views. Visit the iconic Eiffel building, catch a film at Lumière Cinema, or discover the surprising offerings at ’t Bassin. Accessibility by both car and public transport is excellent. The Sphinxkwartier will have its own tram stop, and within a 10-minute bike ride you can reach Maastricht station. The recently opened A2 tunnel ensures that Maastricht is also easily accessible by car.
