The garden

In the spring, everyone enjoys going outdoors again. This means your garden could probably do with a bit of a spruce-up. By maintaining your garden, you'll get your outdoor space ready to be thoroughly enjoyed during the spring and summer periods! Below are a few tips for garden maintenance in the spring.

Pruning
In the spring, it's time to prune dead wood and side branches from perennials and trees. This is important for plants so they can grow in spring and summer.

Trees
Make sure the trees do not cause a nuisance. Prune the tree in time to prevent it from growing too tall. Want to buy a tree? Place the tree in a planter so it can be easily removed again when you leave the house.

Leaves
To prevent soil acidification, it's important to clear fallen leaves. Clearing the leaves ensures that the garden looks presentable and tidy again.

Borders
Remove weeds and dead plants from the borders and clear them away.

Fertilising
In the spring (March/April) it's time to provide plants with compost/potting soil. This ensures that the plants have nourishment to root more. Did you know that there's special fertilisation for spring? This feed provides the plants with the right nutrients.

Lawn
In winter, moss often appears between the grass, and the lawn looks yellow. Start by removing the moss. Then it's time to tackle the grass: mow the lawn, re-seed, and fertilise it.

Back passages
Do you have a property where the garden borders a rear path? Ensure the rear path looks tidy by pruning the hedge in good time and removing weeds from between the paving stones of the rear path.

Paving
The patio and driveway have to endure a lot in the winter. Due to the large amount of water, low temperatures, and fewer hours of sunshine, moss and algae can form on the paving. Removing the algae or moss can be done using household products or a pressure washer, for example.
